Abuse leads to bus driver suffering 'heart attack'

A BUS driver is critically ill in hospital following an altercation with a group of teenagers. The 66-year-old victim suffered a suspected heart attack.

He was taken ill shortly after up to 10 youths shouted abuse at him and unsuccessfully tried to steal money from his cash box.

The incident occurred outside Rocket Pizza, across the road from Clockhouse train station in Beckenham, at 10.10pm on Thursday.

The bus was the 354 travelling to Bromley North from Penge. The youths, who are described as of mixed ethnicities, fled the scene.

Bromley CID are looking at CCTV footage from the bus and the surrounding area and have spoken to two passengers who witnessed the exchange.
