He’ll be assisted by Darren Beale, his old Lilywhites No.2, and will be in charge for the first time at Broadbridge Heath on Saturday.

The Cannons stepped up their pursuit of a new boss after caretaker manager Alex Flisher announced he would be leaving after Tuesday night’s home game against Sittingbourne.

Flisher had been looking after the team alongside Frannie Collin since Watt brought forward plans to leave Reachfields at the end of the season.

“The club are delighted to announce that…Sammy Moore will be taking over as the club’s manager,” said a Cannons statement.

“Sammy will bring Darren Beale with him as assistant manager. Welcome Sammy.”

Moore was sacked by Faversham in January with the club top of Southern Counties East following relegation, albeit having played more games than all the sides around them.

The 36-year has also managed Leatherhead, Concord, Hemel Hempstead and Potters Bar, as well as enjoying a successful playing career with the likes of AFC Wimbledon, Leyton Orient and Dover.
