Rested Fleet still desperate for points

LEE SHEARER: recalled to the Gravesend squad

GRAVESEND & Northfleet will be looking for more Conference points this weekend as they travel to meet promotion-seeking Exeter.

Fleet were without a game last week thanks to a break in the programme and manager Andy Ford will be hoping the extra rest will do his side good.

Fleet lost last time out when a late goal against Stevenage led to their first defeat in six league games but Ford’s men are still in a desperate need for points.

He said: “We’ve been in good form in the league recently but it’s a case of turning those draws into wins and getting a few more points under our belts.

“We’re up against a full time outfit and it’s not going to be easy. The full-time teams can devote more time to organisation and set pieces than we can and that gives them an advantage. But we’re on a good run and team spirit is good so we know we can get a result there.”

Francis Duku and Steve McKimm are both suspended, while Lee Shearer is recalled to the squad.

Pat Gradley and Terry Penfold have both gone on loan so that they can get some competitive matches under their belts. Midfielder Gradley has gone to Ryman League side Boreham Wood, while Penfold has gone to Chelmsford of the Dr Martens League. Both loans will end on February 28.
