Parents' emotional video plea after son's death

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

The parents of hit-and-run victim Neil Martin have made an emotional plea for his killer to come forward - to mark the first anniversary of his death today.

This video taken on Friday shows how Joan and Ron Martin are still desperate to find the driver responsible for hitting their son as he crossed Old Road West, Gravesend, last year.

The driver of a silver-coloured Ford Escort, which was parked in the road, failed to stop after he reversed into Neil and dragged him backwards.

The 43-year-old from Gravesend was then taken to St George’s Hospital in London where he lost his fight for life a week later.

Mrs Martin said there has not been a day gone by without her and husband thinking of Neil.

Detective Sergeant Tom Duff, who is investigating the case, said: “Neil’s parents need to get answers to what happened that evening and we hope that someone out there will now have the courage to come forward to tell us.”

Anyone with information should call North Kent Police on 01474 366082.
