Ebbsfleet United striker Ricky Shakes has been included in the Guyana squad for their World Cup qualifying games against Barbados and Bermuda.

Shakes flew out to join his international team-mates after Fleet’s 1-0 defeat at Wrexham on Saturday for the matches on Friday and the following Tuesday respectively.

He will miss Fleet's home games against Blue Square Bet Premier leaders Gateshead on Saturday and Luton Town next Tuesday.

Shakes, who qualifies through his father’s Guyanese birth, played 10 minutes for Trinidad & Tobago in 2006, whom he originally opted for via his mother’s heritage.

Although he did not meet FIFA’s age rules for switching international allegiance, Guyana were successful in an appeal last year to allow Shakes to represent their country.

He will be joined in Barbados and Bermuda by Burnley defender Leon Cort.
