Faversham Town manager Sammy Moore on the loan arrival of forward Jefferson Aibangbee from Sheppey United

Jefferson Aibangbee will offer something different to Faversham’s new-look frontline, according to boss Sammy Moore.

The forward has become the latest player added to the Town squad for their 2023/24 Southern Counties East Premier Division promotion push.

He finished this season in electric form at Whitstable but has agreed to join the Lilywhites on a season-long loan from Isthmian South East Sheppey.

Moore said: “We watched a little bit of him last year and he was a target that we sort of wanted to try and get over the line.

“We knew that he had another year at Sheppey and there were quite a few clubs in for him.

“But we have quite a good relationship with the chairman there, Matt Smith, and director of football Ernie Batten.

“They said ‘Would we be interested?’ and we jumped at the chance.

“He’s an exciting player, scores goals, likes to take defenders on and he’s something different from what we’ve already got.

“He’ll run in behind and create chances for our players that nine times out of 10 will be in the right place at the right time next year.

“So we’re delighted to get it done.

“We’ve got him for the season and we’re really looking forward to seeing how he flourishes and watching him become an even better player.

“Obviously, he had a lot of interest - and rightly so! He was a constant threat last year and, if you look at most of his goals, they all come from his own work.

“We feel, with the players that we’ve signed, that we can make him better as a player.

“He’ll become better from playing with better players.

“We want to win leagues and we want to win cups - and he’s a winner. That’s exactly what he wants.

“He wants to get promoted and win a league, and that’s what has sold it for him.

“He’s a really good lad and knows most of the boys, as well, which really helps. So fitting in shouldn’t be a problem.

“He’s excited with the way we’re going to play and to show what he can do.”

The Town manager has wasted little time this summer in putting together his side.

He’s still after a player from a National League South club - but doesn’t think he’ll sign until the middle of June now.

Gary Lockyer looks the only out-and-out senior striker in Faversham’s mouthwatering squad.

Moore, though, reckons there is more than enough firepower and versatility there to take the league by storm.

He said: “With the way we want to play, we wanted Lockyer in because he’s a proven goalscorer. He’s scored goals at that level.

“He’ll be playing with better players that’ll create more chances for him so that’s a really big plus.

“We’ve got Jefferson that can play there and Ashley Miller has played in a front two as well.

“We’ve got great versatile players that can play in all sorts of different positions.

“If you just look at our attacking players, they can virtually all play in any of the front positions.

“It’s exciting and I think there’s enough there to do the business.

“If we do need to get another one, then we’ll get another one, but I’m really happy with our frontline in terms of how exciting it is.

“If they all start to gel together, we’ll be a real force to be reckoned with come the start of the season.

“Hopefully, they’ll gel and create chances for each other and score loads of goals.”
