Girl taken to hospital after she was hit by a car in Dover

A young girl has been hit by a car in Dover this morning.

The air ambulance landed at Barton Junior School, in Barton Road at about 8.10am.

The police confirmed that she had been taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford by road.

Traffic in Barton Road and Cherry Tree Avenue was queuing during rush hour, but the area has now been cleared.

Eyewitness Chrissie Moat, said: "There is an ambulance in the playground along with the air ambulance."
