Deal Town will make another attempt to play their much-delayed Kent Senior Trophy quarter-final on Saturday.

The game was originally scheduled for January 9 but had to be postponed because the second round tie between Sevenoaks and Milton & Fulston United, to decide Deal’s opponents in the last eight, hadn’t been played due to bad weather.

Sevenoaks and their Kent County League opponents had to endure a total of five postponements before the tie finally went ahead on January 23, with Sevenoaks winning 3-0 to set up a clash with Deal at the Oatmor Harris Stadium last Saturday.

But that match also had to be postponed because the pitch was frozen so the sides will try again this weekend.

The postponement will provide boss Derek Hares with limited benefit injury-wise, with left-back James Ellis having an extra week to recover from his hamstring strain.

Striker John Utterson is again unlikely to figure after damaging ankle ligaments in the Kent League Premier Division Cup quarter-final first leg tie at Sevenoaks on January 19.

Deal’s eventual elimination from that competition, after they had drawn the away leg 1-1, left a bitter taste for Hares which he will be keen to remove this weekend against a Sevenoaks side who ended Deal’s unbeaten home record this season with their 5-3 second leg victory.
