Patients will a have to take a longer route to a hospital as part of the main access road will be closed for up to six weeks.
Part of Gore Road, in Dartford, which leads to Darent Valley Hospital, will be shut for gas main works.
This closure, between Darenth Park Avenue and Lunedale Road, will be put in place tomorrow.
Traffic will be diverted via Gore Road, the B260 Trolling Down Hill and Green Street Green Road, A296 Princes Road and B2500 Watling Street to the hospital entrance.
The route is usually Gore Road, then Watling Street.
The diversion will add two minutes onto the journey time.
From the roundabout for Darenth Community Park car park in Gore Road, it would ordinarily take five minutes and is 1.9 miles to reach the hospital
The diversion means it will take seven minutes and is 2.4 miles to the hospital.
The road closure could remain in place for up to six weeks.
Access will be maintained for residents.
