Five-vehicle smash causes rush hour misery

MOTORISTS faced long delays on Thursday morning after a crash involving five vehicles led to the closure of one of the tunnels at the Dartford Crossing.

The east bore of the tunnel was shut just before 7.30am after the pile-up close to the tunnel entrance.

Kent traffic trying to reach Essex was queued back to junction three of the M25 at Swanley. Emergency services attended but nobody is thought to have been injured.

The Highways Agency reopened the crossing shortly after 10am.
