Coaching sessions for disabled swimmers

DISABLED swimmers are to be offered monthly coaching sessions in Canterbury and Swanley.

The disability sports development unit of Kent County Council is planning to set up the sessions for a county swimming squad, giving participants the chance to progress to a competitive level.

The regional training session is open to those swimmers with physical and/or sensory disabilities and/or learning disabilities.

All participants must be nine years old or over, and must be competent swimmers, able to swim for 15 or 30 minutes at a time.

The monthly sessions will be held alternately at White Oak pool, Swanley, and King’s School sports centre, Canterbury.

The sessions will begin at Canterbury on Sunday, January 16, Sunday, March 13 and Sunday, May 15, and will be between 5pm and 6.30pm.

Anyone interested in taking part is asked to contact Helen Sole at Canterbury on 01227 830161 or Mike Bishop at West Malling on 01732 525389.
