Two teenagers and a 20-year-old man were due to appear before magistrates in Canterbury on Monday charged with assault.
They allegedly attacked a 20-year-old student as he walked home from his evening job in Canterbury on Saturday night.
Several residents in St Martin’s Road called police about the incident at 11.20pm.
The student was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and kept in overnight. He suffered cuts and bruises but was not seriously injured.
Two 16-year-old boys from Canterbury and David Hollingsbee, 20, from Edgar Road, Canterbury, have been charged with assault.
