Pedestrian dies in lorry crash

AN INQUEST is expected to open tomorrow into the death of a 88-year-old pedestrian who died after being struck by a lorry.

The accident happened in Lower Chantry Lane at Canterbury. Paramedics attempted to revive the unconscious man at the scene.

He was taken to Kent and Canterbury Hospital where he later died. Family members have asked for his identity not to be revealed.

Police are eager to trace the driver of a silver car who may be a vital witness to the incident.
