THE inquest into the death of former Kent cricketer Bob Woolmer has returned an open verdict.

Mr Woolmer, 58, who was Pakistan cricket coach, was found unconscious in his hotel room in Jamaica shortly after his team’s shock exit from the World Cup in March.

After a five-week inquest, a jury in Jamaica returned an open verdict.

It had initially been thought by Jamaican police that Mr Woolmer had been murdered.

But police called off the investigation three months later after three independent pathologists concluded he had probably died from heart disease.
