Police, firefighters and paramedics were called out after a woman was struck by a train.
Officers shut off St Dunstan's Street in Canterbury, close to the level crossing, just before 9pm.
A number of patrol cars, fire engines and ambulances were at the scene.
Shortly before 8.30pm Southeastern had confirmed a person was struck by a train between Ashford International and Ramsgate.
The rail operator added: "All lines between these stations are blocked.
"Emergency services and Network Rail response teams are en route."
Police later confirmed the woman survived the incident with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
She is being treated in hospital.
