A man has been jailed for to three years for sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy in Bonnington in 1981. Peter Charles Willis, 58, of Gregory Court, Churchfield Way, Wye was charged with four counts of sexual assault.

Willis met the boy while fishing and the assaults took place along the canal and waterways around Bonnington.

The abuse was reported to police in October 2007, and an e-fit of the man was released and members of the public came forward.

Asst Det Insp Mark Buck said: “This has been a successful investigation and I am very pleased with the result. This man is a dangerous individual and he continues to pose a serious risk to children.

"He preyed on his vulnerable victim whilst fishing along the canals and waterways around Bonnington in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I would like to thank members of the public who recognised the E fit of Willis we released to the press and contacted us with his name.”
