Dog rescued from mud by fire crews

A dog stuck in mud had to be rescued by firefighters.

Crews were called to an old pond behind Newington village hall at 6.50am on Friday, where a golden retriever was stuck up to its stomach.

They put a ladder over the mud to reach the dog and pulled it to safety.

The woman walking the dog had also got into the mud but had freed herself. Both were unharmed.
