Ashford driver has two vehicles seized on same day

A driver was left fuming after having two vehicles seized by police on the same day.

The man from Ashford was pulled over twice in the space of around two hours by the same patrol officers yesterday.

The first incident came at around 10.39am in Willesborough, where police pulled alongside a tow truck travelling along Hythe Road.

One of the officers glanced inside the cap of the truck, and noticed the driver was using his mobile phone while driving.

After pulling him over, the officers did a background check on the car and discovered that it had neither an MOT or tax.

The driver was issued with a fine and points on his licence for driving on the phone – the standard for which is a £200 fine and six points – while the truck was seized.

Just two hours later, however, the same officers were patrolling along Avenue Jacques Faucheux when they noticed a car that, following a numberplate check, was also flagged as untaxed.

Upon pulling the vehicle over, the driver was discovered to be the same man who had been pulled over that morning.

Once again, the vehicle was seized, leaving the driver eight wheels worse off than he had been when setting off that morning.

A police spokesperson described the driver as "not happy".
